CIRA Staff Member Leaving for Research Post at University of Colorado

Erin McBurney, MPH, Senior Administrative Assistant for CIRA, will be leaving the Center on August 19 to join the staff at the Adult and Child Consortium for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) at the University of Colorado, Denver, as a Professional Research Assistant. Erin has worked at CIRA for two years and prior to that she was on the staff of the Center for Green Chemistry & Green Engineering at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, and began her career at the University at the Yale School of Nursing. Erin had wide ranging responsibilities at CIRA, overseeing and coordinating administrative, program, and office activities, and supporting our five cores and myriad HIV research and training projects. She played a key role in our New England HIV Implementation Science Network, the expanded international visiting HIV scholars program that was launched this past spring, the Research Education Institute for Diverse Scholars program, and innumerable other CIRA events, assisting with the production of programs and materials, and coordinating events with skill and aplomb. She also provided capable support to the Senior Management Group, Executive Committee, External Advisory Board, and Community Advisory Board, scheduling and attending meetings, and preparing and disseminating materials. Erin was often the first point of contact for CIRA visitors, students, faculty, and community partners, greeting them at the front door and serving as a knowledgeable guide and source of information on CIRA, New Haven and Yale. Her presence will be sorely missed. We thank her for her innumerable contributions to the CIRA mission in the past two years and we wish her the best of success and happiness in her new position and life in Colorado.
