- Assistant Director, Office of International Training, CIRA
Annette Ackerman's career started in a Neurology practice as an EEG technician, and later as a surgery scheduling coordinator at an Eastern Pennsylvania based hospital network. At Yale, she provided support to the Yale AIDS Program Provision of Needle Exchange Based Health Services Community Health Care Van Project and joined CIRA in 1999 to begin work on the then newly awarded Fogarty International Center (FIC) AIDS Training and Research Program (AITRP) and NIMH Postdoctoral Training Program grants. As the international training and research programs expanded, the Office of International Training was established, and her work focused on the CIRA-affiliated, FIC-funded training programs. Ms. Ackerman oversees all administrative and fiscal activities of the programs that have welcomed more than 130 fellows and faculty, primarily from Russia, China, India, South Africa and Nicaragua to Yale University and to CIRA.
