Biography:
Dini Harsono is a Program Director at Yale University’s Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA), overseeing the center’s initiatives and programs focused on health services and global research. She leads the coordination of CIRA’s international research program and HIV/AIDS in humanitarian crises initiatives, and the Yale Global HIV/AIDS Research Network part of the Yale Institute for Global Health.
Trained in health psychology, her research interests include conducting mixed-methods research to understand the behavioral aspects of human health and the uptake of evidence-based practice to improve health outcomes and access, particularly related to HIV, mental health, and substance use in the resource-limited settings. She has contributed to research on HIV and substance use prevention and treatment in the US and globally. Before coming to Yale, Dini was a research associate at Keele University in England conducting research and program evaluation on engagement in addiction and psychiatric support services. She also worked as a clinical studies officer for the UK National Health Service’s National Mental Health Research Network. She previously served as a peer educator at Indonesia’s first AIDS service organization, Yayasan Pelita Ilmu. Dini earned her MSc in Psychological Approaches to Health at University of Leeds, and Bachelor in Psychology at Universitas Indonesia.
