CIRA Welcomes Eleven Fogarty International Fellows

Since 1998, our international training programs have welcomed 150 fellows from Russia, China, India, Nicaragua, South Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria and Uganda. CIRA’s Office of International Training's (OIT) mission is to provide each international fellow with a coherent, individualized program that prepares the fellow to conduct high-quality HIV/AIDS and TB and bioethics research in his or her home country.

OIT is currently supported by three Fogarty International Center at NIH grants:

Office of International Training FellowsJoining us from both Russia and China, the 11 new fellows for 2012-2013 are working in a wide variety of fields, ranging from cardiology, psychology, engineering and psychiatry to hematology, bioethics, medicine and applied computer science and sociology. The new fellows joined CIRA during the mid to late summer and most will stay with us until the end of May 2013. They have already shown their enthusiasm to contribute to the program activities by getting involved in their mentors’ ongoing projects, attending relevant Yale meetings and seminars, and attending classes at Yale School of Public Health.
