CIRA Welcomes New Community Advisory Board Members

CIRA is excited to welcome four new Community Advisory Board (CAB) members who represent and engage with diverse communities impacted by HIV/AIDS.

  • Mel DeFilippo is a Licensed Community Health Worker and Prevention Client Care Manager at APNH in New Haven who also serves as research coordinator for joint projects with the Yale School of Medicine.
  • Joelle Espeut is Director of Programming at The Normal Anomaly Initiative in Houston, TX, a Black and Queer-led organization that has developed novel HIV, health, and employment programs to serve these communities.
  • Peta-Gaye Nembhard is a Project Manager at the City of Hartford Department of Health and Human Services, and uses her expertise in quality improvement to help lead local HIV community planning groups.
  • River Rose is a Capacity Building Program Manager at CTHRA/SWAN in Hartford, CT, and a Johns Hopkins Bloomberg fellow whose project is focused on the national opioid crisis.

All CIRA CAB members are now assigned to individual CIRA Cores and actively contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of CIRA-wide and Core-specific activities.
