Former Research Education Institute for Diverse Scholars (REIDS) Scholar Awarded the NIH Director's New Innovator Award

Dr. Tiarney Ritchwood has been awarded the NIH Director's New Innovator Award for her study "Community-Academic Partnerships to Address COVID-19 Inequities within African American Communities". This novel project seeks to address individual and socio-structural barriers that lead to African Americans disproportionately bearing the burden of elevated rates of COVID-19- related morbidity and mortality by leveraging social innovation, community participatory methods, and multisectoral partnerships. Dr. Ritchwood is a former REIDS scholar and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Duke University School of Medicine.
