Heroin in CT - A Suburban Epidemic

A new video from the Yale School of Public Health titled 'Heroin in Connecticut - A Suburban Epidemic' focuses on YSPH Professor Robert Heimer and findings from his CIRA affiliated study, Environmental Factors In HIV Transmission Among Suburban IDUs, which suggest that injection drug use is increasing among suburban residents. Until the study began (July 2007), little research had focused on this trend, and the economic, social, and medical consequences had not been considered. During the study, Dr. Heimer's team had to identify, recruit, and study a valid sample of injectors who reside in Connecticut suburbs using respondent driven sampling (RDS).
