Ransome Selected for the 2024-2025 Public Voices Fellowship Cohort

Congratulations to Dr. Yusuf Ransome, MPH, Dr.MPH, associate professor of public health (social and behavioral health sciences) who was among 20 scholars from across Yale selected for the 2024-2025 Public Voices Fellowship Cohort. The fellowship program gives under-represented scholars the opportunity to work with top journalists from The OpEd Project. As a part of the program, fellows receive support in all areas of public thought leadership, including writing and placing op-ed pieces, conducting TV and radio interviews, and using social media. The fellowship is designed to assist scholars in increasing their influence as thought leaders whose ideas impact not only academia but also larger public debates.

Ransome investigates how social capital, social connectedness, and spirituality, influence mental and physical health and wellbeing, and socioeconomic prosperity. His mission is to create interventions that reduce racial and geographic-related disparities and help fast-track people into their divine destiny. Poole is a population health scientist notable for her contributions to the evidence base for crisis preparedness and response. Within the broader field of population health in crises, her work is centered around two themes: assessing and responding to the needs of crisis-affected populations and adapting research methods for complex settings.
