Taking a Community-Based Approach to Youth Substance Abuse Prevention

Dr. Ijeoma Opara's community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach to substance use prevention and mental health services for urban youth was recently highlighted by NIH Director, Dr. Francis Collins. An assistant professor of social work at The State University Stony Brook University, NY, and a former Research Education Institute for Diverse Scholars (REIDS) scholar, Dr. Opara was a recipient of an NIH Director's Early Independence Award.
