- Former Predoctoral Fellow, CIRA
Biography:
Tony Maiolatesi is a PhD student in Social and Behavioral Sciences and a pre-doctoral fellow in CIRA's NIMH Interdisciplinary HIV Prevention Training Program (Y-APT). Tony uses rigorous social psychological theories, principles, and methods (e.g., experimentation) to study how sexual minority men, specifically gay men, think, feel, and behave. He is particularly interested in gay men's impressions of themselves as individuals vs. group members and how these evaluations, when negative, can be effectively revised and updated. Secondary interests include psychometrics and personality psychology (e.g., person × situation interactions). Before starting the PhD, Tony studied Psychology at Columbia University (CC '19). At Yale, he is mentored by Dr. John Pachankis.
